CARIBOU – Tours of the newly-constructed highway, music and entertainment will all be part of Friday’s grand opening of the Caribou Connector.

Only bicyclists and pedestrians will be allowed on the four-mile highway beginning at 10 a.m. A ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m., with Maine Department of Transportation Commissioner David Bernhardt the featured speaker.

Signs will direct visitors and residents to parking at the Route 161 end of the Connector, where the ceremony will be held. A van will be available for seniors and those with disabilities.

Traffic will flow over the Caribou Connector later in the afternoon.
