GARDINER, Albertine M. ‘Abby’, 94, PRESQUE ISLE & BREWER, August 10, 2012. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, August 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Homes, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE & BREWER – Albertine M. ‘Abby’ Gardiner, 94, passed away peacefully Friday, August 10, 2012. She was born September 24, 1917, in Fort Kent, daughter of Theodule and Ozithe (Berube) Bernier.
Albertine was a graduate of the Maine School of Nursing and worked at Gould Memorial Hospital in Presque Isle. She was a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella and actively volunteered her time over many years. Abby’s life was rich with experiences that shaped her resilient and courageous spirit. She loved to dance and her sense of humor never failed to bring a smile to those around her in the 94 years that she graced our lives.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Steve Melus of Ocala, Florida, and Debra and Brian DeLowery of Carmel; two sons, Ronald Gardiner of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Lawrence Gardiner and wife, Leslie of Mapleton. Abby was also a proud Nana of ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Albertine was predeceased by her husband, Alfred J. Gardiner; her son, Daniel J. Gardiner; her daughter, Marilyn A. (Gardiner) Wilkinson; her brother, Victor Bernier; and her sister, Ernestine Boutot.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, August 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Ray Morency, celebrant.
