Back to basics of driving

To the editor:

People really need to brush up on their basic driving skills. Didn’t they teach us that when you have something obstructing your lane, it is your responsibility to stop or slow down and stay in your lane?

People seem to think that they can just pull into the other lane without even looking or sometimes they do look but still make us slam on our brakes or push us into the oncoming lane. I really like my car the way it looks and would like to keep it that way. I had a lady on my left side, she had a person who was getting out of their car, so the driver’s door was open. Instead of stopping, she just pulled into my lane. I slammed my brakes on and blew my horn.

Now, the way I see it, the lady who was getting out of her vehicle should’ve waited for traffic to go by and then got out of her vehicle. We are all responsible for our own actions. People need to slow down and pay attention to what they are doing and what their actions do to others. Next time you are driving down the road, maybe we all should think “would I want someone to cut me off or pull in my lane?”
