Volunteers still needed for Caribou Cares events

Caribou Cares about Kids is one of the major events of the central Aroostook summer and additional volunteers are still needed to help make the festival better than ever.

Volunteers are particularly needed on Friday and Saturday for the annual Tie-Dye Extravaganza and the Caribou Farmers’ Market, respectively

“What I love about volunteering is that you’ll see kids wearing the shirts they made during the Tye Dye Extravaganza throughout the year, so you’re helping to create memories for these kids,” explained Director of the Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce Jenny Coon.

Whether volunteers want to dress up like a clown or staff a registration table, all levels of participation are still in demand.

Whether an individual is willing to help out for an hour or five, all volunteerism is appreciated.

While giving back tends to be its own reward, there are benefits to volunteering during the Caribou Cares about Kids festival.

“When volunteers get here, they don’t want to leave because they’re having so much fun,” Coon described.

Those willing to volunteer are asked to notify Coon no later than Thursday by phone, or come on down to the Tye-Dye Extravaganza on Friday to give her a heads-up on Saturday’s volunteerism.

    The best part about volunteering?

“You get to be a part of one of Caribou’s biggest events,” Coon said.
