County Open still accepting golfers
The County Open format has returned to its original roots, but it also has a new twist.
The event will be spread across two weekends, with golf on Aug. 3-5 and the half-marathon/relay to be held on Saturday, Aug. 11.
The Friday four-person golf scramble will be played at VaJoWa in Island Falls. Registration is at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
The 36-hole golf tournament will be played over two days, Aug. 4 and 5, with a day each at VaJoWa Golf Club in Island Falls and Houlton Community Golf Course in New Limerick.
Registration is $75 and does not include cart rental, so contact the courses early to reserve a cart.
Golfers in the tournament are placed in one of four divisions — Men’s A,B and C divisions, and the Ladies Division. Registration is limited to 140 players. Tee off times will be posted at www.countyopen.com.
