Katahdin Public Library in Island Falls is having a summer full of activities. An ongoing book sale is being held in the lobby through July, ending with a parking lot sale on Friday, Aug. 3. Books of all types for all readers are offered.
Children’s story time occurs Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. until school begins. This event is geared for pre-school through third grade. Stories are shared and coloring or a small craft is done. Older children are participating in a reading challenge; a giant wall pizza is being built with each book read by each child. A pizza party will end the challenge.
On Monday July 23, beginning at 10 a.m., the MacDonald Family farm animals will once again be at the library. This will be the fourth year for this fun day. The rabbits, chickens ducks, goats, pigs and other small farm animals are child friendly, ready to be held and petted. At 3 p.m. on that day, Conjuring Carroll, a children’s magician, will hold a magic show at the library. This is approximately a one hour show for children of all ages. There is no charge for these events. In the event of rain, the farm animals will be rescheduled.
