Nine grade 7-8 East Grand students, who successfully completed educational goals, were rewarded with a St. Croix River canoe day trip from Vanceboro to Little Falls.
Students paddled exciting whitewater, swam, caught bass, had a cookout and rump bumped at Little Falls, said instructor Dave Conley.
Seventh-graders Jacob Davis, Sara Stoddard, Josh Jones, Phillip Farley and Sam Plummer successfully completed goals for ALEKS, a researched based computerized math intervention program. Eighth-graders in Tammi Matula’s Adventures Class, Gage Cassie, Kim Stoddard, Bethany Lindsey and Austin St. Pierre, completed a Junior Achievement finance unit taught by VP/Regional Branch Manager of Machias Savings Bank, Jackie Jones. They presented their portfolio and delivered a speech, highlighting the lessons learned while compiling their portfolio,” added Conley. Highlights included reflections surrounding opportunities to complete a college, job, and loan application, participate in a mock interview, and balance a six-month budget. Parents, staff, and administration were invited to the presentation.
The canoe trip was led by Conley, Matula and Holly Dicker.
