ROLE MODEL
At top, U.S. Olympian cross country skier Kris Freeman spoke with Camp Adventure campers on June 20 at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle. Freeman encouraged the group of teenagers, who all have Type I diabetes, with positive information and told them to never set limits for themselves because of their disease. Freeman was diagnosed with diabetes in 2000. During last year’s World Cup season, he amassed three top-10 finishes.
