WORKS SUCH AS THIS expressive portrait by Tim Gagnon of Gagnon Studio in Castle Hill will be on display in the Barresi Financial Gallery at the Wintergreen Arts Center,  FS-FIRST FRIDAY ART GAGNON-CLR-DCX-SH-27 located at 149 State St. in Presque Isle, from July 7-30. An opening reception for Gagnon, who gets his inspiration from the human mind, will be held Friday, July 6 from 6-9 p.m. as part of the First Friday Downtown Art Walk.

The public is invited to attend this free event and meet Gagnon, who was named one of the top 50 emerging artists of 2012 by “Art Business News” and was also the 2011 Art Expo Challenge Winner. His work will be on display in the Barresi Financial Gallery at the Wintergreen Arts Center located at 149 State St. in Presque Isle from July 7-30.

Gagnon’s work is collected in over 30 countries and all 50 states and has been published in “Art Business News,” “American Art Collector,” “Manhattan Arts” and the “Empty Easel.” Gagnon states that he gains his inspiration from the human mind.

“I find it fascinating how humans think, and act,” he said. “We try so hard to be individuals, to be different … but by doing so, we are all the same.”

Gagnon also noted that his style is defined by mood … from flowing clean landscapes to thick, slashed paintings with emotion and energy. He enjoys painting things that have meaning or energy and says that he doesn’t try to reproduce images how they are filtered through our eyes, but rather how he envisions them in his mind.

Gagnon holds the distinction of being the very first artist to host a show at the arts center in March of 2010.

“We are so excited to have Tim back,” said Wendy Gilman-Zubrick, Wintergreen’s executive director. “He’s an incredible talent and is in high demand hosting exhibits in major cities all over the country. We are thrilled that he’s willing and able to share his work with his hometown fans for the month of July!”

Gagnon has taught more than 3,000 people his techniques worldwide via his online teaching site and has more than 37,000 YouTube subscribers. For more information about the artist, log onto www.timgagnon.com.
