SAFARI — Kyla Woods, left, reports on the fenner fox, while Lewis Cole talks about camels. Prior to school closing for the summer, elementary students in Debbie Melvin’s third-grade class turned their classroom into a safari of sorts. Each student was assigned an animal to research so they could make a presentation to younger pupils who visited the room. Animals ranged from exotic creatures such as the giraffe, cheetah and lion, to more common local animals as moose and the Maine black bear.
PRESENTATIONS — Natalie Putnam, left, speaks about chipmunks, while Ella Crockett discusses moose.
