EASTON and HAMPDEN  – Marguerite (Cahill) Brown  passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012, with her family around her and in her heart. Marguerite was so ready and so sure about leaving this world to go with God, her mother and husband for the next, and she did it on her own terms, “Marguerite style”.

SH Marguerite Brown 1 OB

During her very active life, she was Aroostook County’s Civil Defense Director, a mail carrier and teller, EEO specialist for the post office, book buyer and seller, antique dealer, scarf maker, craft maker, and Postmaster for several towns in Aroostook County and much more. There really isn’t anything that Marguerite wouldn’t, didn’t or couldn’t do.
Growing up, her children would hear bits and pieces of her acts of kindness to help someone who was in need, a ride to work, some gas money, some Christmas money, or a place to live for a while were just a few of the things. One of her proudest memories was helping a young boy by offering him a place to live, go to school and then helping him go to college. This is a memory she held dear and spoke warmly of. She had a kind heart.
Visits from her sister, Christine, and her nightly calls with her sister, Mary, kept her connected with her siblings and were things she looked forward to very much.
Marguerite never missed the opportunity to try new technology. She was an avid “ebayer” and loved her iPad and smart phone.
Marguerite is survived by her children, Jim Brown of Presque Isle, Rick Brown of Easton, Shelley Kennett of Old Orchard Beach, Nancy Albert of Portland, and Trish (Patti) Niedorowski of Hampden; her grandchildren, Ashlee Albert of Presque Isle and Kelsey Albert of Washburn; and a sweet great-granddaughter, Meredith. In addition siblings, Charles (Bill) Cahill of Vermont, Mary Feeney of Falmouth, Christine Shuman of Brewer and Judy Tame of Gray. Many nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Coco.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harrison “Pat” Brown; her parents, Glenwood and Josephine Cahill; a brother, Tom Cahill; and a sister, Sandra Richards.
Marguerite was known as “Meems” to her grandchildren, she was so very proud of them both. Her parting words for everyone were, “be kind to each other.”
Services for both Marguerite and Pat will be announced later in the fall.
A Service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
