MAPLETON, ME & MEREDITH, NH – Earl Forrest Turner, 91, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Golden View Health Care, Meredith, after a period of declining health. Born in Castle Hill, on December 5, 1920, he was the youngest of seven children of Leo Scott and Della Maude (Estabrook) Turner.
Earl was raised in the Castle Hill and Mapleton area, graduating from the Mapleton High School, Class of 1937.
Earl resided in Mapleton for most of his life before moving to Ashland, NH, in 2009. He worked many years in the construction industry with Trombley Construction Co., Rathbun Co., and Cyr Construction Co., but was also employed as a furniture maker, boat builder and auto mechanic.
Earl had many hobbies including: motorcycling, boating, fishing, gardening, snowmobiling and woodworking.
Earl is predeceased by his three sisters, Grace Archer, Evelyn Nickerson and Pearl Ashley; and three brothers, Elwin “Sam” Turner, Mont Turner and Cliff Turner.
Earl is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Charlotte Hope (Randall) Turner, of Meredith; daughter, Linda J. Zahka and husband, Alan of Holderness, NH; son, Bruce E. Turner and wife, Rosanne of Palmer, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews throughout New England.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the South Side Cemetery, West Chapman Rd., Mapleton. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend.
