The Mapleton Baptist Church will be hosting a Vacation Bible School in July. “Sent With a Message” will look at the journeys of the Apostle Paul, the message he was sent with, and the message we are to share.Bible School will run Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 13 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. for ages 4 through grade 5. The afternoon will include crafts, snacks and the opportunity to be a part of making a video. There will be a closing program Thursday night, July 12, plus a special activity day on Friday. Mapleton Daze this weekend
The Mapleton Daze Committee is pleased to release the schedule of activities for this year’s Mapleton Daze Weekend. This will be the 24th annual Mapleton Daze Weekend and it is being sponsored by the Mapleton Lions Club. There will be many activities throughout the weekend and more activities may be announced as the weekend approaches. Everyone is encouraged to come and have a fun weekend here in Mapleton. The Woodie Waddell Memorial Cribbage Tournament will be held Thursday, June 28 at 7 p.m. at the Mapleton Lions Hall. Please bring a board and cards. Doubles and singles are welcome.
Friday, June 29 is being called the Family and Friends Night. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. at the Mapleton Elementary School parking lot. Registration for the Mapleton Daze Fun Run will be at 4:30 p.m. The Mapleton Lions Club will be hosting its annual chicken barbeque dinner for $8 per person. The Mapleton Methodist Women will be selling pie and coffee, the Mapleton Methodist Youth Group will be selling baked potatoes and fixings, the Mapleton Baptist Youth Group will be selling ice cream, the Presque Isle Youth Hockey will be selling hot dogs and snow cones, and a group from the University of Maine at Presque Isle will be selling lemonade.
Also, Wendell Hudson and Friends will provide musical entertainment and there will be a dunking booth, jumping castle and the Nickerson family will have pony rides for children. At 7 p.m. there will be an outdoor family movie and the fireworks display will be at 9 p.m., along with the drawings for the children’s’ bicycles.
Saturday, June 30 the Haystack Historical Society will be open for tours and will also have pie and ice cream on sale. The Mapleton Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at the Elementary School.
Sunday, July 1 Pastor Nathan Gardiner will lead a Sunrise Service at the gazebo on Main Street at 7 a.m. The Mapleton Ladies Extension will be waitressing at the Mapleton Diner from 7-10 a.m. and the annual Jerry Dow and Merlyn Buck Memorial Walk will begin at 9 a.m., departing from the Mapleton Lions Hall.
The Mapleton Lions Club also sponsors the Maple Meadow Farm Festival and invites the public to attend the events and activities Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, July 1 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
