Sarae Sager |
CARIBOU — Sarae Sager is the recipient of the 2012 Emera-Bangor Hydro-Maine Public Service Scholarship for Employees’ Children. This is an $8,000 scholarship, $2,000 per year, renewable each year for four years pending attainment of a satisfactory academic record.
Sager was one of 15 applicants considered within the utility service territories of both the Bangor Hydro and Maine Public Service, selected for her outstanding academic achievement, community involvement and good citizenship.
Sager is Caribou High School’s valedictorian for the Class of 2012; holds school records in the 100 meter hurdles and also the 300 meter hurdles; has taken AP high school courses in English, history, calculus, physics, and psychology; has been a member of the Maine Dance Academy for 15 years; participates in high school varsity track and soccer; is a member of the National Honor Society; is employed at Olympia Sports; and has worked on a harvester, and volunteered with Caribou’s “Mini-Vike” sport camps in the summer, and second grade classrooms.
In the fall, Sager plans to attend the University of New England in Biddeford, majoring in pre-med/biology, and continue for another four years in their College of Osteopathic medicine.
Sager is the daughter of MPS Line Worker First Class Steve Sager and dental hygienist Sue Sager of Caribou.
