To the editor:
It was with great disappointment that I discovered this morning a lawn ornament that I have had for many years was taken. It is not a matter of the lawn ornament (it was an expensive plastic swan with plants) but it had belonged to my parents. They used it for many years in their yard and it has a real sentimental value more than monetary value.
I used this ornament in major cities in Massachusetts where we lived and never had any problem with people “taking” things that don’t belong to them. We move back to Maine (back home) and find that some people think that if they like it that it is “their property too” and just take whatever they want.
I really hope that whoever took this ornament will enjoy it on their property and that memories of it belonging to a loving home will remain with them whenever they see it. Memories are all we have left now from our childhood but one thing about memories they can never be taken away from us.
God bless whoever needed that ornament more than we did.
