Sandstrom, Duane, 64, of Florida and Maine, on June 8, 2012. A graveside service for Duane will be held 6 p.m., June 14, at the New Sweden Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou.
Florida and Maine – Duane Sandstrom, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2012, as a faithful servant into the presence of God. He was born in Lexington, MA, son of Charlene W. Peterson Sandstrom and Harold Sandstrom, a native of Boston, and loved by his stepfather, Smith McIntire. Duane served as Smith’s best man when he and Charlene were married on June 1, 1967; they were happily married for 38 years.
Duane admired and deeply loved his unselfish, sacrificing, devoted mother and loveable Grammy Alma Johnson Peterson. He was an only child and lived in his Grammy’s home from age two until eight years old with his mother with daily prayer, Bible Study, and regular church attendance that emphasized a born again relationship and communication with God.
Duane earned a BA degree in History, Social Science and Bible, and later a graduate degree in Counseling and Psychology. He was employed by numerous organizations in NY, MA, etc., as an assistant Business Manager, Program Staff Assistant Youth Counselor, Counselor to Program Staff and Basketball Coach. He was also President, Manager and owner of Income Properties for many years and managed other investments.
Duane is survived by many cousins, relatives in North Dakota, Canada and numerous states, Ray and Nancy Todd of Caribou, their children, and very special friends and acquaintances nationwide.
In addition to his parents; and Smith McIntire; Duane was predeceased by his grandmother; grandfather, Carl Peterson; uncles, Oscar, Edwin, Raymond, Verner, George Peterson; and aunt, Adelia Densmore.
A graveside service for Duane will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the New Sweden Cemetery, Reverend Chris Hearn officiating.
