CMS Students of the Month

CARIBOU, Maine — Susan White, principal at the Caribou Middle School recently announced the names of those selected by their respective teachers as Student of the Month for May.

Meagan Dube, a member of the sixth-grade team was named Student of the Month for May by her team teachers Mr. Pelletier, Mr. McLaughlin, Mrs. King, Mr. Deprey, Mrs. Dionne, Mrs. Michaud and Mr. Gorneault.

“A very conscientious student, Meagan always gives her best effort in everything she does,” said the CMS teachers, “she is extremely thoughtful, kind to others and is also very respectful toward her peers and teachers.”

“Meagan is a very involved student, not only here at Caribou Middle School, but outside the school as well,” her teachers stated. “She participates in the school chorus and show choir and is a member of both the CMS band and jazz band. She is very involved with Girl Scouts along with volunteering her time for various organizations. She also enjoys being part of the recreation department’s summer swim and soccer teams. Meagan’s pleasant demeanor and positive attitude make her a wonderful role model to other students.”

Noah Heidorn, a CMS sixth-grader was named Student of the Month for May by his teachers Mrs. Bouchard, Mr. McLaughlin, Mrs. Bresett, Ms. LaJoie, Mrs. Michaud and Mr. Deprey. “Noah is an extremely busy and talented young man,” stated the CMS teachers. “While at the Caribou Middle School he has been involved with the Developmental Assets Team and the Leadership Team. He plays in the CMS band, is involved with the Gifted and Talented program and is a homeroom representative to our Student Organization,” they added.

“Outside of his academic accomplishments, Noah is on the tennis team and has participated in both recreation soccer and basketball programs,” said the sixth-grade teachers. “He also has participated in AYBL and AAU basketball and the Dutch Soccer Academy. Noah has been a joy to have in school and has been an outstanding role model for his peers. He has set very high standards for himself and strives to meet them every day,” the teachers added.

Kourtenie Rossignol was chosen as Student of the Month for May by her seventh-grade teachers Mrs. Barnes, Mrs. Curtis, Mr. Perreault, Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Gorneault and Mrs. Rhinebolt.

“Kourtenie is always respectful and kind to her peers and leads her peers by example. She also is striving to be the best student she can be and has admirable determination and works to overcome any obstacle she faces with a positive and can-do attitude,” stated the CMS team teachers. “Kourtenie is very deserving of this honor,” they added.

Julia Page, a member of the seventh grade at the Caribou Middle School was named May Student of the Month by her teachers Mr. Perreault, Mrs. King, Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Gorneault, Mrs. Rhinebolt and Mrs. Barnes.

“An excellent singer and dancer, Julia is a member of the CMS chorus and show choir,” said her teachers, “and she is also a member of the track team. Her grades are exceptional and she has earned the highest honors roll all year long, she is an outstanding school citizen and person.”

“Perhaps the qualities that separate Julia from the pack,” said the CMS teachers, “is her abundantly positive attitude at school and her compassion and leadership within her grade. Julia always has a smile on her face and accepts any and all academic challenges with vigor and attention to detail. She is tremendously helpful to other students and always offers ways to help her classmates. Her energy and enthusiasm has enabled her to be very well-liked and respected here at CMS,” stated the staff members.

Elijah Verhoff, an eighth-grade CMS student was named Student of the Month for May by his teachers Mr. Fantasia, Mrs. King, Mr. McLaughlin, Mrs. Sleeper, Mr. Troy Barnes, Mr. Travis Barnes, Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Gengler, Mr. Ouellette and Mr. Gorneault.

“Elijah has been a member of the soccer and track teams and has also been an active participant in the band and chorus during his four years at CMS.” stated his teachers. “He was an All-Aroostook selection during his sixth-and seventh-grade years and also received an Outstanding Soloist trophy at the Maine State Vocal Festival each of the past two years,” they added. Verhoff’s teachers stated they had noticed an improvement in his academic performance this trimester and feel that he has been a model school citizen.

Maddy Staples, an eighth-grade student was selected Student of the Month for May by her teachers Mrs. Sleeper, Mr. Barnes, Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Deprey, Mr. Troy Barnes, Mr. Fantasia, Mr. Gengler and Mr. Ouellette.     “Maddy has been an active CMS school citizen,” said her teachers, “she is a homeroom representative for Student Government and has fulfilled her responsibilities efficiently and effectively. An honor roll student, she is a leader in the classroom as she contributes to class discussions and is eager to help her fellow classmates.”

“Maddy continually shows kindness to everyone she encounters. She has played sports throughout her middle school career and during the eighth grade year she has played on the CMS soccer, basketball and softball teams. She is also an Aroostook Youth Basketball League athlete. As a leader, student, athlete, Maddy exemplifies the qualities of a student of the month,” stated her teachers.
