Ormsby sentencing is Thursday
HOULTON — A man convicted of three gruesome murders in Amity two years ago, will be sentenced Thursday morning in Houlton Superior Court.
Thayne Ormsby, 21, of Ellsworth was convicted April 13 of the stabbing deaths of Jeffrey Ryan, 55, Ryan’s 10-year-old son Jesse, and Jason Dehahn, 30, a friend of the Ryan family. All three were found dead in a mobile home in Amity on June 22, 2010.
Ormsby’s defense attorneys argued he was not sane at the time he committed the murders, but the jury found he was criminally responsible for those deaths. Ormsby has been in the Aroostook County Jail since the verdict was announced.
The minimum sentence for each count of murder is 25 years in prison, while the maximum sentence is life. The state will likely be asking for a lifetime sentence, according to District Attorney William Stokes.
An appeal on the verdict could still be entered by the defense.
