In celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, Paul and Doris Sherman of Oakfield were the guests of honor on May 5 at a surprise dinner hosted at the Horn of Plenty restaurant in Houlton. Sons Paul, Pat, and Sterling Sherman arranged the surprise. All of Paul and Doris’ children and grandchildren were in attendance.
The family presented Paul and Doris with a commemorative 50th anniversary plate. Nancy Levin of the Horn of Plenty made a beautiful 50th anniversary cake and presented it to the couple.
Paul retired several years ago after a long career in the pulp-testing lab at the Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket. Doris works as a registered nurse at Houlton Regional Hospital. They have lived in Oakfield for their entire marriage.
