Crissy Corbin, a fifth-grade student at Teague Park Elementary School and a member of the RSU 39 Gifted and Talented art program since she was in the third grade, will have the honor of having her art work entitled, “The Crissy Wonderland” on display in the state capitol June 1 through September 1.
According to Lena Tingley, RSU 39 art teacher, Maine First Lady Ann LePage and Megean Mattingly, of the Maine Arts Commission in collaboration with the Maine Youth Excellence in Art program invited 30 Maine school art teachers to submit one student’s artwork to be part of the display in the Statehouse.
“Miss Tingley gave us 14 words that had to be used in some way in our picture, and this is how I used them.” stated the young artist. “I like to draw anything and everything — I’ve always wanted to be an art teacher,” she added.
At the end of the Maine Youth Excellence in Art display, each of the artists, accompanied by their parents and art teachers will attend a tea, hosted by LePage in Augusta.
