Fifth graders of RSU 50 are waiting until May when it is not only knowing that in a few days that they will be leaving the elementary department and going into middle school, but it also means a trip to Boston, Mass. for three days.
Getting to Boston is not an easy task for any of these students, parents or leaders of the school. It means many hours of fundraising and many hours of preparation for the trip itself. These students have worked hard to raise the money that is needed for every fifth grader and one adult to go for free. The fundraisers have ranged from a dinner theater shared with another club at the school, Little Caesar’s pizza fundraiser, fuel raffle tickets, bottle drives, freezer-filler fundraiser and other fundraisers that have brought in funds to these students.
The students held an auction fundraiser April 28 at the Oakfield Community Center, but additional fundraising is still needed.
Anyone interested in helping these students get to Boston and would like to make a donation, please contact the school at 757-8206 and ask for the elementary department.
