“Currently at the top of her class academically,” stated Jones when presenting the award, “Sarae,  throughout her years at Caribou High, has distinguished herself in the classroom, on the playing field and as a leader in the school, as well as the community.” Jones also noted that the CHS senior has taken six advanced placement classes during her high school career.

“While in high school she has participated in both track and soccer for four years,” said Jones. “She has volunteered at Hilltop Elementary School and is currently volunteering at CHS as a guidance aide. Outside of school, Sarae is an avid dancer and is employed part-time in retail sales. She is a very busy and determined young lady who very much deserves this recognition,” he added.

Sager, along with Jones and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon held at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor, on April 7.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes the outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, both former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
