    HOULTON – Walter “Jim” J. Sabatis, 65, died April 21, 2012 at a Bangor hospital. He was born January 7, 1947 in Houlton, the son of Joseph Walter and Frances E. (DeVeau) Sabattis.
    Jim was a communicant of the Saint Mary of the Visitation Church and a member of the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and playing cards with his family and friends. Family was very important to him.
    Jim is survived by two daughters, April Boone and her husband, Derrick, Nicole Colford; four grandchildren, Erin Sabattis, Samantha Sabattis, William James Sabattis and Cooper Upton; one great granddaughter, Madison Sabattis-Newman; stepchildren, Meghan Ellison, Michael Mulhern, Caroline Mulhern and Laura Harding; four brothers, Clair Sabattis, Leonard Sabattis, Douglas Sabattis and Paul Sabattis; five sisters, Betty Joseph, Linda Bell, Carol Saluski, Margaret Sabattis and Deborah Belanger; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Mary “June” Joseph, Veronica Joseph and Joanne Valintine.
    Friends may call at the Dunn Funeral Home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Visitation Church with Rev. David Raymond celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Gifts may be made in Jim’s memory to the Walter J.
