Bragg sets ‘good character’ as lifetime goal

Being a part of Washburn District High School’s National Honor Society has truly been an honor. I was inducted as a sophomore and have enjoyed every day since.
The four pillars of NHS — character, leadership, service and scholarship — have given me standards to live up to throughout high school. I know that as I go into college and my future, I will continue to strive to live by these pillars. I will still continue to do my best academically and push myself to succeed in whatever I attempt. I will not be afraid to take leadership roles or follow other leaders when the time is appropriate.
There is nothing more rewarding than brightening another’s day. I will still strive daily to service others in any way possible.
To me, character is the most important pillar. Good character is the pillar that will have the largest effect on life outside of high school. Character is also the most challenging pillar to emulate, as we are tested every day.
As I move into more challenging times, I will look back on my time in NHS and remind myself of what’s important.
