Meetings focus on citizenship

PRESQUE ISLE — Immigration officials will be on hand next week to provide information to individuals interested in learning more about becoming a citizen. Sessions are planned for both Presque Isle and Calais.
“Officers with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ (USCIS) Portland field office will be available at local information sessions in both Presque Isle and Calais on Monday, April 23, through Thursday, April 26,” said Paula Grenier, public affairs officer, USCIS.
Grenier said the meetings are open to anyone wanting more details on the immigration process.
“USCIS staff will be on hand to provide information services related to immigration benefits available through the agency. The sessions are free and open to the public. Those wishing to attend may walk in without an appointment to speak with a USCIS representative,” said Grenier.
In Presque Isle, meetings will be held at Northern Maine Community College, 33 Edgemont Drive, Library Conference Room at the following dates and times: Monday, April 23, 12:30-4:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, April 24, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. In Calais, sessions will be held at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office at the Calais Port of Entry, International Drive at the following dates and times: Wednesday, April 25, 12:30-4:30 p.m.; and Thursday, April 26, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
