MARS HILL — Officials with the Maine Department of Transportation will be in town on Monday, April 23, to discuss road reconstruction plans.
“The DOT will hold a formal public meeting to discuss the proposed reconstruction project beginning two-tenths of a mile southerly of the Bubar Road and extending northerly 1.6 miles to Route 1A,” said Jon Bither, project manager.
The meeting will take place at the Mars Hill Fire Station, 12 Market St., from 6-8 p.m.
“The scope of this project will provide for improvements to the existing highway, including improved roadway structure, reconstruction of existing drainage facilities, sidewalk and curb and new pavement — both on the travel way and shoulders,” said Bither.
DOT representatives will be on hand to listen to concerns, receive comments and answer questions from anyone with an interest in the project, “to make sure all transportation needs are addressed prior to proceeding to final design,” said Bither.
Anyone with an interest is invited to attend and participate in the meeting. Accomodations will be made for persons with disabilities.
For more information, Bither can be reached at the DOT, Highway Program, Northern Region, 41 Rice St., Presque Isle, call 764-2060 or e-mail jon.bither@maine.gov.
