Caribou Middle School students of the month

CARIBOU, Maine — Susan White, principal, and the staff at Caribou Middle School recently announced their selections of Student of the Month for March.

Ciara Richards, a member of the sixth-grade class was named Student of the Month for March by her teachers Mrs. Cathy Bouchard, Mr. Vaughn McLaughlin, Mrs. Vicki King, Ms. Sarah LaJoie, Mme. Stacey Michaud and Mr. Ryan Deprey.

“Ciara is a very conscientious student,” stated the CMS teachers, “she works hard every day to do her best in class and takes responsibility for her learning. Her work is always done and she participates in class regularly.” The teachers also added, “Ciara has a very active school life outside of the classroom as well. She participates in the school band and chorus and in the fall she was on the CMS cross-county team and also was a member of the ski team. She is a fine example of a CMS citizen.”

Noah Frost was chosen as Student of the Month for March by his sixth-grade teachers Mrs. Ruth Dionne, Mrs. Stephanie Bresett, Mr. John Pelletier, Mme. Michaud and Mr. Deprey. “Noah is an honor roll student who is very conscientious about his schoolwork,” stated the CMS teachers. “Despite his quiet demeanor, Noah has a great sense of humor, which is one of his greatest assets. He is cooperative and willing to help in any way when called upon which make him a positive role model to his peers as well as a joy to have in class,” they added.

The sixth-grader participates in AYBL basketball, plays rec soccer and is a member of the Caribou Little League, playing for Key Bank. He is also an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and ATV riding.

Katie Clark, student in the seventh grade at CMS was named Student of the Month for March by team teachers Mrs. Holly Rhinebolt, Mr. McLaughlin, Mme. Niki Carpenter, Mr. PJ Gorneault, Mr. Lyle Gengler, Mr. Dale Ouellette, Mr. Steve Perreault and Mrs. Mary Curtis.

“Katie takes great pride in her work and wants to be successful in everything she does. A member of the CMS band and basketball team, she is also active in her church youth group. Katie is a very kind young lady and extremely welcoming to new students,” the teachers added, “she can often be seen in the classroom helping others and using her time effectively.

Heather LaMothe was chosen as Student of the Month for March by her seventh-grade teachers Mr. Perreault, Mr. Gengler, Mr. Ouellette, Mrs. Curtis, Mrs. Rhinebolt, Mme. Carpenter, Mr. Deprey and Mr. Gorneault. “Heather is a high honor/honors student,” stated the teachers, “and what really sets her apart from the rest of the grade 7 students is her kindness and personality. It is a well-known fact that Heather gets along with everyone. When there is someone feeling low or poorly, it is Heather who tries to pick them up — when someone is in need of a friend or needs someone to talk to, Heather is that person.”

“Heather is a leader at CMS, by the shining examples she sets both in the classrooms as well as in the hallways and her humor touches all of her classmates and the staff here at CMS,” the teachers said. “She has been a person who reaches out to everyone in need — new students, quiet students and sad students, all are helped by Heather. If kindness were sunshine, then Heather LaMothe would be the sun itself.” According to the teachers, LaMothe has also been a member of the CMS cheerleading team as well as the girls soccer team, excelling in both.

Taylor St. Peter, a grade-eight student was named Student of the Month for March by her CMS teachers Mr. Troy Barnes, Mrs. Sue Keaton, Mrs. Twyla Leanard, Mr. Gorneault, Mme. Carpenter, Mr. Deprey, Mr. Travis Barnes, Mr. John Habeeb and Mr. Ralph Fantasia.

“Over the past month Taylor has shown great strides academically,” stated the teachers. “She has demonstrated great effort in her schoolwork as well as being an asset in class with her teachers and fellow classmates. Taylor also demonstrated her athletic skills over the winter by being a member of this year’s cheerleading team,” they added.

Hailey White, a member of the eighth-grade class was chosen as Student of the Month for March by her CMS teachers Mr. Travis Barnes, Mr. Fantasia, Mr. Troy Barnes, Mr. Gengler, Mr. Ouellette, Mme. Carpenter, Mr. Gorneault and Mrs. Shannon Sleeper. “Hailey possesses the qualities of a student that all teachers look for,” stated her teachers, “the desire to learn, self-motivation and courteous to her peers are just some of those qualities. She is involved in the Builder’s Club and last year was a member of the softball team.”

“Hailey is never afraid to offer help to her peers and can be found providing support in many different way,” the CMS teachers added. “She is consistent in her efforts and never wavers from her efforts.”
