Jayne Farrin, Caribou city clerk, would like Caribou residents to know she is still seeking individuals to serve as workers during municipal, state and federal elections. Farrin stated that ideally she would like to be able to maintain a pool of names to work from, noting that not every person would be called to work at every city election.

In order to be considered to provide this civic duty, residents must be a registered voter of Caribou and be at least 17 years of age.

Duties would include handing out ballots during city elections, providing basic information to voters, assisting with checking off names on the city’s registered voters list as voters enter to vote, and overseeing the voting machines.

Farrin stated that she must maintain a balance between political parties, in regard to those ballot clerks who are working at any election. Ballot clerks must be a registered voter and enrolled in one of the major or minor qualified parties including Republican, Democratic, Independent, Green, America’s Elect or unenrolled.

This position is a two-year appointment from May 1, 2012 to April 30, 2014. Interested individuals may apply for this position with the city clerk in Room 2 of the Caribou Municipal building at 25 High Street.
