Committee to hold Mill Pond meeting

WASHBURN NEWS

    The Mill Pond Park Committee will meet on Wednesday, March 28, at the Civic Center at 7 p.m. The committee will be discussing plans for this summer’s work at the park. The goal is to achieve a user-friendly park.

    Anyone interested in helping with a project or with ideas for the park is encouraged to attend the meeting.

Spring event

    Please join the Washburn Memorial Library and the Washburn Recreation Department as they celebrate the coming of spring with a fun activity, complete with crafts, stories and prizes. The event will occur on Friday, April 6, at 2:45 p.m. and will end at 4 p.m. Children from kindergarten to the fourth grade are invited and encouraged to attend.

    The event will take place at the Washburn Recreation Department, which is located at 2 Bridge St.inWashburn. Call Marcie Barbarula at 455-4959 or Katherine Veitschegger at 455-4814 with any questions.

 

Junior Exhibition

    The Class of 2013 Junior Exhibition will be held Friday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Washburn District High School Gymnasium. Tickets are $3 for adults, $1 for students and will be sold at the door.

    Five juniors will be participating this year: Maegan Fitzpatrick, Kolby Koch, Jesse Prescott, Daniel Roy and Nick Silver. People’s Choice Award tickets will be sold during intermission.

 

August Festival 2012

    The August Festival Committee once again would like to provide such events as outdoor concerts and entertainment at the park, children’s activities and games, fireworks and so much more. Organizers would like to make the 32nd annual Washburn August Festival as big as it has been in years. The Festival dates of Aug. 17-19 are going to again be filled with many exciting and enjoyable festivities.

    Please come and share your ideas and suggestions to make this a memorable event at the next August Festival meeting, to be held on April 11 at 7 p.m. at the Washburn Civic Center. The Committee is always in need of volunteers and sponsors to make this an enjoyable time for all. Project Graduation

    Washburn Project Grad 2012 is taking donations at the bottle redemption center in Washburn for this school year. Just let them know that you want to donate your bottles. Thank you to anyone that has given to us in the past. It is greatly appreciated.
