PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s basketball season has been over for a few weeks, but some of the UMPI players are still receiving honors.
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association announced its basketball All-American and All-Academic teams this week.
On the men’s side, junior Patrick Manifold, of Great Yarmouth, U.K., is an “Honorable Mention” to the men’s Division I All-American team. Manifold had his best collegiate season under first-year Owls’ head coach Jim Casciano averaging 16 points and eight rebounds per game for UMPI this season.
Manifold was also named to the All-Academic team for the USCAA. He was joined by teammates Kyle Corrigan of Caribou, Brennen Morton of Chepachet, R.I., Lucas Bartlett of Bradley and Brad Trask of Easton.
To be included on the All-Academic Team student-athletes must be either a sophomore, junior, or senior and possess a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
On the women’s side for UMPI, sophomore Rashell Saucier, of Washburn, received “Honorable Mention” status to the USCAA’s All-American Team. Saucier averaged a double-double this season, 12 points-per game and 10 rebounds, and finished in the top 10 of two statistical categories, field goal percentage and rebounding.
Four UMPI women’s basketball players were named to the USCAA All-Academic team. Emily Moore of Lisbon, Emily Pelletier of Fort Kent, Chelsea Boudreau of Wallace, Nova Scotia and Taylor Ussery of La Verne, Calif. were all honored for accomplishments in the classroom.
