LIMESTONE — Tonight’s public hearing has been moved from the Limestone Municipal Building to the Limestone Community School auditorium to accommodate an anticipated large crowd eager to discuss the 2012 budget, including three major proposed changes — reducing the Limestone Police Department’s coverage from 24 hours a day to 18 hours, changing a currently vacant part-time position at the Limestone Town Office to a full-time position and merging two part-time positions at the Public Works Department (a part-time winter plow truck driver and a part-time summer maintenance position) into one full-time position.
The public hearing beings at 6 p.m. and is an opportunity for Limestone citizens to discuss details of the 2012/13 municipal budget and express their opinions.
As the selectpeople began getting feedback about budget concerns, they decided that the larger capacity B101 room at the school would be a better setting for all involved. Only about 20 people can fit relatively comfortably into the conference room of the Limestone Municipal Building, where the selectpeople hold their bi-weekly meetings.
While the schedule may change depending on how late the public hearing runs, the current schedule indicates that the selectpeople will meet at LCS room B101 for the 6 p.m. public hearing, returning to the municipal building upon the hearing’s conclusion to conduct their regularly scheduled meeting.
After the public hearing, the selectpeople are scheduled to meet with Police Officer Jesse Cormier, sign a quitclaim deed for all school property to RSU 39, appoint Budget Committee members and review the third draft of the proposed 2012/13 budget.
The selectpeople also have an executive session scheduled to speak with Limestone Police Chief Stacey Mahan.
