The Aroostook County branch of the American Red Cross-Pine Tree Chapter is offering adult, infant and child CPR, and first-aid training on Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Chan Conference Center at Cary Medical Center.
Participants will learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. First-aid skills include treating a variety of injuries such as burns, wounds, head, neck and back injuries; and heat-and cold-related emergencies. Also included are ways to manage sudden illnesses, stroke, seizure, bites and poisoning.
Participants will also learn the skills necessary to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) for adults and children. For every minute that an AED is delayed in a cardiac situation, the person’s chance of survival decreases by 10.
