HOULTON — Houlton High School Jazz Band members Dustin Fitzpatrick and Zacharia Harvey both received “Outstanding Musician Awards” at the State Instrumental Jazz Festival held at Mount Desert Island High School Saturday, March 17.
“The Houlton students were chosen for this award by a panel of judges based on their quality performing and their contribution to the HHS Jazz Band’s performance in competition for Division IV jazz bands (small schools),” said band director Joseph Fagnant. “Only five students from each division can receive this award, and it is a great honor to be recognized as some of the best student musicians in the entire state.”
