Girls’ teams compete in Division II volleyball championship

    WASHBURN — The Fort Fairfield girls have captured the 2012 Division II Volleyball Championship in Aroostook County.
    The tournament played last week in Washburn featured a pool A and B.
    Pool A consisted of Van Buren, Easton, Central Aroostook High School, Katahdin and Greater Houlton Christian Academy.
    Fort Fairfield, Washburn, Wisdom, Limestone/MSSM, Ashland and Hodgdon comprised pool B.
    Van Buren and Easton advanced in the A pool and Fort Fairfield and Washburn, which would meet in the final, advanced in B.
    The Tigers won the first game of the final, 25-17. The Beavers came back to win game number two, 25-20. The final was a battle with Fort Fairfield notching a two-point win, 25-23.
    Emily Blaisdell of Fort Fairfield was named MVP.
    Making the All-Star Team were: Maykayla Patterson, Katahdin; Halle Duff, GHCA; Carsyn Koch, Washburn; Alley Beaulieu, Ashland; Amanda Allen, LCS/MSSM; Ariana Babineau, Easton; Vanessa Pelletier, Wisdom; Paige Garrison, CAHS; Lacey McQuarrie, Hodgdon; and Parise Rossignol, Van Buren.
