Caribou players receive Big East basketball awards

Caribou freshman Dayne Savage has been named to the Big East All-Conference second team. Below, Caribou senior Annie Collins (with the ball) was named a Big East scholar-athlete.

The Big East awards are out for the 2011-12 high school basketball season and Presque Isle and Caribou players have been honored.

Making the first team all-conference for the boys’ are senior Matt Eager and junior Tyler Brooks of PIHS. Freshman Dayne Savage of Caribou was second team.

Receiving a Paul Soucy Spirit Award were Chad Caverhill of Caribou and Logan Good of Presque Isle.

Caverhill also received a defensive award, as did Cole Richards of Presque Isle.

Honored for scholar-athletes were Eager and Caribou’s Nick Pucci.

The Presque Isle boys were given the award for sportsmanship.

For the girls, juniors Chandler Guerrette and Megan Ireland of Presque Isle made first team all-conference. PIHS senior Kayla Richards was second team.

Chelsea Nickerson of Presque Isle was given a defensive award.

Jaime Martin of Caribou and Liza Buck of Presque Isle were Paul Soucy Spirit Award receipients and Annie Collins of Caribou and Karlee Bernier of Presque Isle were named scholar-athletes.

The Big East is made up of Presque Isle, Caribou, Foxcroft and Washington academies, John Bapst, Hermon, Old Town, MDI and Ellsworth.
