CARIBOU – Doris O. Thibodeau, 73, passed away March 8, 2012. She was born April 1, 1938, in St. Francis, the daughter of Adolphe and Flossie (Sturgeon) Ouellette.
Doris was a hard working woman and mother. She was praised for excellent homemade bread and jams. In her late teens, she performed at rodeos in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. She was a lumberwoman and a professional truck driver. She was known as “Lady Cherokee” in her long and short haul trucking days. Doris was a giving woman who would help anyone who asked her. She was a friend to many.
Doris is survived by her four daughters, Mrs. Loren (Carolyn) Rhone of Modesto, CA, Mrs. Eckley (Donna) Sander of Port St. Joe, FL, Mrs. Greg (Sharon) Haulk of Covington, GA, and Mrs. Jonathon (Jodi) Rustin of Edison, GA; two Sons, Roland Thibodeau, Jr. and his wife, Samantha of Caribou, Kevin Thibodeau and his companion, Mary Ann of Washburn; the father of her children, Roland Thibodeau, Sr. of Caribou; her sisters, Mrs. Hilton (Thelma) Kelly of New Sweden, Mrs. Vernal (Pauline) Nadeau of St. Francis, Mrs. Gerald (Bertha ) Hotchkiss of Tuscon, AZ, Mrs. Patrick (Verna) O’Leary of Caribou, Mrs. Mike (Leola) Onerato of Kenduskeag; her brothers, Adolphe Ouellette Jr. and his wife, Sue of Colbert, WA, Franklin Ouellette Sr. and his wife, Sharon of Bangor, Thomas Pelletier and his wife, Rhona of St. Francis, Gordon Pelletier and his wife, Sally of Hermon and a special brother, Roland Soucy and his wife, Grace of Allagash. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Simon, Mrs. Mabel Albert, Mrs. Sadie Plourde; her brothers, Patrick Ouellette and Richard Ouellette.
Per Doris’ request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral mass. Her ashes will be laid to rest at a spring burial next to her father at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in St. Francis. Spring burial arrangements will be published at a later date in the Bangor Daily News. Donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
