BHA hosts play
The BHA is proud to announce that the Smyrna/Merrill Historical Society will be “bringing their show on the road” to the BHA hall on May 5 and 6 and presenting their play, “Hood for Sherwood.” It is a two-act play. There will be dessert served at intermission. Show time is 6 p.m. both nights.
Tickets are required so organizers know how much dessert to prepare. Tickets will soon be available at the Bridgewater Town Office or by contacting the BHA. Tickets are limited so get yours early. Tickets are available on a donation basis. Donations will benefit both the Bridgewater Historical Association and the Smyrna Merrill Historical Society. This is our first joint project and we hope it will be a big success. Thank you for your support.
For more information, contact the Bridgewater Historical Association at P.O. Box 341, Bridgewater, ME 04735 or call Jann Votaw, Pres BHA at 425-7901.

School registration
SAD 42 will be having registration for the 3-, 4- and 5-year-old programs for the 2012-13 school year. The registration will be held on Friday, April 6, at the Fort Street School and is open to 3-, 4- and 5-year-old children of the Mars Hill, Blaine and Bridgewater area.
Pre-school students must be either 3 or 4 years of age on or before Oct. 15. Students who will be 5 years of age on or before Oct. 15 are eligible for kindergarten. Please call Fort Street School (429-8514 or 429-8515) to schedule an appointment to register your child.
The state of Maine requires: proof of immunizations, birth certificate — hospital copies are not acceptable; a copy must be obtained from the municipal office of the town or city where you were living when the child was born. SAD 42 requires these documents at the time of registration.
Parents registering children for the 3- and 4-year-old programs are asked to bring proof of income to the appointment.
If you are not a legal parent, a copy of guardianship papers (from probate court) must be completed before registration.
Those students currently enrolled in the 4-year-old program do not need to register. If you have any questions, call the school for further details.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Tuesday morning, March 13, at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Rotarian Rena Kearney. She showed slides and spoke about a 23-day trip she took in 1997 with her sister and some friends.
They visited Copenhagen, Denmark, where they saw the Little Mermaid statue, the home of Hans Christian Anderson, a Viking burial mound and homes with thatched roofs.
In Sweden, they saw statues such as St. George and the dragon, as well as cobblestone streets, windmills, reindeer and castles. They visited Stockholm, Sweden — a city built on 14 islands.
Norway was interesting as they saw the Olympic site, open-air museums, stave churches, glaciers, waterfalls, fjords and mountains. They also saw a Viking ship and sled, as well as a troll statue. They were able to step behind a waterfall and Rena got an interesting photo looking out through the water.
They also visited Iceland, where they saw geysers, waterfalls, craters and more stove churches. They also saw the “Golden Circle,” thermal heat formed of lava rock.
