Caribou — Evelyn Michaud, 81, peacefully left this world to join her loving husband, Stanley and her beloved daughter, Joanne after a long battle with Alzheimer’s March 8, 2012, at Augusta. She was born in Caribou August 30, 1930, the daughter of Albert and Lillian (Patterson) Quimby. Mrs. Michaud was a lifelong resident of Caribou where she was a faithful member of the Caribou United Baptist Church. She held various jobs in her lifetime, retiring as director of the Meals on Wheels program of the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially with her grandson, Kris at the camp on Long Lake, her trips to Bar Harbor and visiting her son and daughter.
Mrs. Michaud was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; her daughter, Joanne, her parents and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Dawn Michaud of Vassalboro; a son-in-law, Ivan Martin of Listugua, Quebec; a grandson, Kristopher and his wife, Candice of Hartland; one sister, Mabel Wilcox; one brother, David Quimby; a brother-in-law, Reynold Michaud and his wife, Laurina; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Searles and her husband, Stillman, all of Caribou; a sister-in-law, Viola Swenson and her husband, Randy of Gardner, MA; her great-grandchildren, Emberli and Nigel Michaud; many nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, from the Caribou United Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Gary Johnson, officiating. Following the services all were invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Henry B Pratt Post 15 American Legion.
