The Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, approved the grant for the Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project for the development of a new website, www.sacap.us. The project integrates social networking, PayPal for sales, blogs and interactive features to enhance visibility of the organization and artists. The new website was designed and coordinated by Fred Grant, a recognized local website designer whose work has assisted in marketing local businesses as well as a local arts center fundraising project. The expanded website will be an active springboard for artists and SACAP to increase visibility locally as well as globally. Bob Cowperthwaite, president of SACAP, said, “The Board of Directors was pleased to have received approval of the grant that has provided funding for the project. We are excited that we now can work online to continue fostering our flourishing arts community and creating excitement in our cultural environment.”
Everyone is encouraged to visit the website to see the variety of art that is available within Visions Gallery at 66 Main St. in Houlton.
