Contestants hoping for the luck o’ the Irish

What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than to be at the Caribou Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 17 wishing the nine young Caribou ladies all the best of luck as they compete in the 2012 Pre-Teen Miss, Jr. Miss, and Miss Teen Caribou pageants which will begin at 7 p.m.

Contenders for the 2012 titles and crowns of Pre-Teen Miss Caribou, Jr. Miss Caribou and Miss Teen Caribou have been busy practicing for the Saturday, March 17 pageant, which will take place at the Caribou Performing Arts Center beginning at 7 p.m. The young ladies vying for the three separate 2012 titles and the reigning Caribou queens include, in front from left: Mariah Mink, Brianna Reece, 2011 Pre-Teen Miss Kyra Thibeault; 2011 Junior Miss Kelsie Washington; Brooke Haney and Olivia Picard. According to Sherill Campbell, pageant director, the theme for this year’s pageants is “Magic, Magic, Magic,” and the evening will begin with a dance number featuring all of the contestants joined by 2011 reigning queens — Pre-Teen Miss Caribou Kyra Thibeault, Jr. Miss Caribou Kelsie Washington and Miss Teen Caribou Rianna Plourde.

Following the opening number the title contenders will then compete in categories of physical fitness, talent and evening gowns. These pageants are preliminary events to the Maine Potato Blossom pageant which is held in July concurrent with the Potato Blossom Festival.

Contestant and their talent selections, are as follows.

2012 Pre-Teen Miss Caribou

Brianna Reece, piano medley, the daughter of Teresa Prue and Michael Reece.

Brooke Haney, piano selection of “Entrance of the Gladiators”, the daughter of Troy and Jenn Haney.

Olivia Picard, trumpet selection of ”Can, Can” the daughter of Bryan and Carla Picard.

Mariah A. Mink, jazz dance to “Popular”, the daughter of MaryAnn Mink.

2012 Jr. Miss Caribou

Samantha Irene Fortin, clarinet selection of “Ave Maria”, the daughter of Robin and Robert Fortin.

Kelsey Kiehn, vocal selection “Don’t Rain on My Parade”, the daughter of John and Kim Kiehn.

Meagan Dube, vocal selection of “Love in Any Language”, the daughter of Ed and Theresa Dube.

2012 Miss Teen Caribou

Kirsten Diane Haley Maynard, violin selection of “Irish Party in Third Class”, daughter of Spencer and Heather Maynard.

Victoria Leigh Keaton, vocal to “On My Own”, daughter of Michael and Susan Keaton.

Special entertainment during the March 17 pageant will be provided by Caribou reigning queens Jr. Miss Caribou Kelsie Washington, Pre-Teen Miss Kyra Thibeault and Miss Teen Rianna Plourde.

Sponsors for the evening include Renos, Plourde & Plourde, North Caribou Cuts, Pat’s Automotive, Haney Building Specialties, Sonny’s Jewelry, Sports Inn, DoDo’s, County Physical Therapy, TD Bank, Monica’s Scandinavian Gifts and Construction Materials Testing, a division of FGS/CMT Inc.

Admission to the 2012 triple crown pageant is $6 per person. Tickets may be purchased from any of the nine contestants or at the door.
