All-Tournament selections announced

BANGOR — Aroostook County is very well represented on this year’s Bangor Daily News girls’ East All-Tournament Team and two local players have been named MVP for their respective classes.

Junior Chandler Guerrette of Presque Isle and freshman Mackenzie Worcester of Washburn were named Owen Osborne MVPs after leading their teams to Eastern Maine girls basketball championships last week.

The BDN selected the all-tourney teams with input from school administrators, media representatives, former coaches, Maine Principals’ Association officials and other dedicated observers.

The MVP award was established in 1994 in memory of Osborne, a former BDN sports reporter and editor.

Guerrette was one of the sparks, as the Wildcats remained undefeated on the season after downing Nokomis of Newport, 52-40, in Saturday’s Class B title game. Worcester averaged 19.7 points per game as the top-ranked Beavers ran the table in Class D.

Also named to the Class B squad are: Presque Isle’s Hannah Graham and Kayla Richards, Marissa Shaw of Nokomis and Alana Vose of Medomak Valley.

Joining Worcester in Class D are: Washburn’s Carsyn Koch, Parise Rossignol of Van Buren, Victoria McIntyre of Central Aroostook and Jennah Steamer of Hodgdon.

Editor’s note: The boys’ All-Tournament Team was named after our print deadline on Tuesday and will be in next week’s paper.
