LIMESTONE — Pros, novices and beginners alike are welcome to strap on a pair of skis during the Friends of the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge’s Second Saturday event on Saturday, March 10 to enjoy the trails and sights of the Limestone refuge, and you don’t need your own skis to participate.

The Maine Winter Sports ski trailer will be on location with plenty of skis to borrow, and the Second Saturday event will also feature an informal ski clinic for participants of all ages.

“If you always wanted to try cross country skiing before buying the equipment, this is your chance,” event organizers explained.

The trails will be open for exploring during the event for skiers and snowshoers to stretch their legs and enjoy one of the year’s last winter weekends.

As outdoor exertion is sure to work up an appetite, officials with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Eat Well Nutrition Education Program will be on site, bringing samples of healthy foods and providing participants with wonderful recipes.
