HOULTON — Two Hodgdon women were sent to the hospital Monday morning following a head-on collision on the Calais Road.
According to Erica Pelletier of the Houlton Police Department, Rachel Williams, 33, of Hodgdon, was traveling north in a Subaru sedan at around 10:30 a.m. when she was struck head on by a vehicle driven by Linda Livorsi, 50, also of Hodgdon.
Livorsi, who was traveling south in her Suzuki sport utility vehicle, lost control of her vehicle after hitting a patch of ice and drifted into oncoming traffic, Pelletier said.
Williams had an infant in her car, who was not hurt in the accident, the patrolman said. The accident was reported by a passing motorist. Traffic was blocked for more than an hour as police, fire/rescue and ambulance personnel were on the scene.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene of the accident, which occurred near Crest View Manor.
