Sending the (right) message with flowers

14 years ago

While advertisements encourage patrons to “say it with flowers,” the iconic Valentine’s Day roses are said to have multiple meanings depending on the hue of the chosen flowers.

• Red roses are said to represent love and respect;

• White roses supposedly represent humility, purity and innocence;

• Yellow roses represent friendship, joy and caring;

• Pink roses symbolize femininity, refinement and gentility;

• Orange roses are said to represent enthusiasm and desire; and

• Lilac/Purple roses are said to represent enchantment, desire and supposedly send a message of “love at first sight.”
