‘Sky Watchers of Ancient Mexico’

The Francis Malcolm Science Center of Easton will present the “Sky Watchers of Ancient Mexico” on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. Voyage to the wonders and warmth of Mexico and Central America. Dazzle yourself in the cities of ancient America. Participate in the great astronomical discoveries of the first Americans. Call 488-5451 for more information and reservations for this unique planetarium adventure. Weather permitting, telescopic observations following the show.
Students of the Month
Several Easton students have earned the honor of being named Student of the month since November.
Logan Halvorson was chosen Student of the month for the month of November.
Logan is the son of Barbara and Phil Halvorson.
Logan is in the eighth grade and is an all-around good student.
Amanda Dayringer
was chosen Student of the Month for the month of December.
Amanda is the daughter of Gayle and Tim Dayringer.
Amanda is a senior at Easton Jr./Sr. High School.
She is a hard-working young lady who is always willing to lend a hand when needed.
Breann Clayton was named Student of the Month for January.
Breann is the daughter of Jodi Bell and Toni Clayton.
She is in the seventh grade. Breann gets along well with her classmates and always has fun.
She is nicknamed Breezy by all her friends.
Jacob Flewelling
was chosen in December as Student of the Month in Easton.
Jacob is the son of Brian and Lynn Flewelling.
Jacob is very active in basketball and soccer.
He is in the eighth grade.
Jacob won the geography bee and came in second in the spelling bee at Easton.
Nick Clark was chosen Student of the Month for January.
Nick is the son of Jeff and Shelly Clark.
Nick loves to play basketball and soccer and play the drums in the band.
Nick is a freshman at Easton Jr./Sr. High School.
Sympathy
Our sympathy goes out to the family of Glenwood Lawrence who passed away. Glenwood will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Glenwood was from Canada but lived in Easton most of his life, raising his family here. To his family, our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.
Our thoughts and prayers also go out to the family of Mallard Ireland who passed away recently. Mallard lived in Easton and raised his family here. He will be missed in this little community.
Visitors
Norma Jean and Peter Triola from Orlando, Fla., were recent guests of parents John and Nina Trask. During their visit they helped her sister, Cheryl Thibeau, have a birthday party for their mother, Nina Trask. Those attending the party were Kathy and Tom Peary, Cheryl and Austin Thibeau — all from Presque Isle; Helen King, Ezalee Smith, Sheldon, Fern and Maureen Hull, Barbara Bonville, Hollis Hull and John Trask from Easton.
Happy Days Club
SHOW AND TELL — Members of the Happy Days Senior Club held a pizza party with their dolls.

The Easton Senior Happy Days Club met on Thursday, Jan. 26, with a pizza party.
Members brought a favorite doll or teddy bear.
It was interesting to see what was popular when they were young.

Hillary Hallett was guest of honor at a birthday party held for her by Easton’s senior citizens’ group.
Town Office closed
The Easton Town Office will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 16, in order to close the end-of-year books. The office will re-open Friday, Feb. 17, at 8 a.m.
Hot Shot winners
Children ages 9-15 have been participating in the MRPA Hot Shot competition in gym classes. Congratulations to our qualifiers: Lydia Ferris, Cecilia Morin, Brenley Fredette, Alexis Hayes, Mitchell Flewelling, Austin Carver, Camden Michaud, Paige Flewelling, Isabelle Morin, Delia Bonner, Noah Hanscomb, Denver Fredette, Carson Flewelling & Collin Sotomayor, Kylee Carter, Ashley Hersey, Cassie Buck, Cody Halvorson, Dominic Fredette, Logan Halvorson and Connor Burtt. They will be competing at the Regional Competition at the Caribou Rec Center on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Competition begins at 10 a.m. Good luck to all participants!
Classes have started
Zumbatomic classes have begun.
Zumbatomic classes are rockin’, high-energy fitness-parties packed with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines and all the music kids love, like hip-hop, reggaeton, cumbiaand more. Parents love Zumbatomic because of the effects it has on kids, increasing their focus and self-confidence, boosting metabolism and enhancing coordination. Classes began on Tuesday, February 7 and will run through March 13. The cost is $10 for the first child in each family; with a $2 discount for each additional child. Classes will take place at the Hall until 4 p.m.
Swimming lessons have started. The swim lesson session for the Easton Rec Department started Feb. 6 and will run through March 12 (with no lessons Feb. 20) with classes directly after school. The cost is $17.50 for the first child from a household and $13.75 for each additional child. Open to ages 4 and up! You must pre-register at the Town Office prior to the first lesson.
Zumba Saturdays continues. The class will run until Feb. 25 in the Easton Elementary Gym from 8 to 9 a.m. Please pre-register at Easton Town Office. The cost is $24 for the six-week session; drop-in rate is $6 — note price change.
Wednesday, Feb. 8 — Junior activities 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall. Senior exercise class at 1 p.m. in the recreation room at the manor. Ski for Life at Ferris’s on Ladner Road until 4:30 p.m., conditions permitting. Grades 5 and 6 boys’ basketball practice from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 9 — Little Bears’ basketball teams will work with the UMPI girls’ basketball team from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 10 — Junior activities 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall. Seniors’ Valentine’s Day Party starting at 11:15 a.m.; lunch will be served. The cost is $2.
Fifth- and sixth-grade basketball teams will play Fort Fairfield at home. The girls’ game will be at 3:30 p.m. and boys at 4:30 p.m. Little Bears’ grades 3 and 4 and cheerleaders will play at half-time of the varsity game. Players should be at the school by 5:15 p.m. Players will get into the game for free but spectators will have to pay. The cost is $4 for adults, $2 for children & $2.50 for senior citizens.
Saturday, Feb. 11 — Zumba with Zumba Toning from 8-9 a.m. in the Elementary School Gym. Little Bears’ basketball grades 1 and 2 from 9-10 a.m. in the elementary gym. Little Bears’ basketball for grades 3 and 4 from 10-11:15 a.m. Fifth- and sixth-grade girls and boys will participate in a basketball round robin in Ashland; times TBA.
Monday, Feb. 13 — Senior nutrition class starting at 11 a.m. in the recreation room at the manor. Swimming lessons after school; bus will return to the Hall by 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration required at the Easton Town Office. Open to ages 4 and up.
Tuesday, Feb. 14 — Zumbatomic class from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Hall. Pre-registration required at the Easton Town Office. The cost is $10. Open to ages 4 and up. Fifth- and sixth-grade basketball games vs. Mars Hill; girls at 4:15 p.m. and boys at 5 p.m. Little Bears’ basketball scrimmage (with cheerleaders); grades 1 and 2 at 5:45 p.m. and grades 3 and 4 at 6:30 p.m.
