Houlton Rec vacation fun

The Houlton Recreation Department is accepting registrations until Feb. 17 for its February vacation programs. Many of the programs are limited and for more details on each program call the rec office at 532-1310.
Arts & Crafts Program for children in grades pre-K-6 will run Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 9-11 a.m. at the Rec Center. Cost is $5 per child and this program is limited to 24 children. A snack and drink will be provided. Children should wear play clothes as some crafts may be messy. Registration required.
    Cross country skiing for youth will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21 and Thursday, Feb. 23 from 1-3 p.m. Children in grades 2-6 are asked to meet at the Millar Civic Center. Youth skis will be provided courtesy of the Maine Winter Sports Center and children should dress warmly. This free program for children requires a registration.
Games Galore for children in grades pre-K-6 on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 9-11 a.m. at the rec center. Cost is $5 per child and this program is limited to 24 children. A snack and drink will be provided. Be sure to wear play clothes and sneakers. Registration required.
Sneakin’ In Science Program for children ages 7-12 on Saturday, Feb. 25  from 9:30-11 a.m. at the rec center. Cost is $12 per child and this popular program is limited to 15 children. This session is titled “Future Engineers.” Children will build car ramps and boats that float in air. Do you have what it takes to build the fastest and most creative marble obstacle course? There will be lots of “back to the drawing board” and problem solving in this engaging hands-on program! Register early as this program fills up fast.
G-Force Laser Tag will be held Friday, Feb. 17 from 5-7 p.m. for ages 6-12 and 7-9 p.m. for youth ages 12 and older. Cost is $10 per player per session. This event is part of Moosestompers Weekend. No registration required, just bring your friends and have a blast!
The rec center will be open to youth during the February vacation break on Saturday, Feb. 18 through Sunday, Feb. 26 from 1-4 p.m. each day. Both the gym and game room will be available to youth.
Youth basketball registration reminder: Don’t forget to drop off the youth basketball registration to the Houlton Recreation Department by Feb. 8. The department will sponsor girls grades 5-6, boys grades 5-6, girls grades 7-8 and boys grades 7-8. Youth basketball programs run from Feb. 27 through April 11. For more information call 532-1310.
