Skye Sutherland, a professional painter and photographer, has been selected by Caribou’s Brambleberry Market as their Featured Artisan for February.

Originally from Connecticut, Sutherland sold her house and most of her belongings a few years ago, and now travels the country full-time with her dog, recording images of nature and animals through her paintings and photography. She works and lives in her 18-foot camper, or in cozy rentals, selling her artwork in the campgrounds she stays at, on the Internet, and at dog shows. The artist often works on commission, creating custom portraits of dogs for the people who love their pets.

Sutherland is currently spending the winter in a cabin on Cross Lake. She tries to spend several months a year in Aroostook County, where she finds inspiration in the untouched wildness and beauty of the area. The exhibit at Brambleberry Market, located in the downtown mall features paintings and photography of sled dogs, hunting dogs, and wildlife including birds and moose.
