Slalom and GS races held at Bigrock

    MARS HILL — It was slalom in the morning and giant slalom in the afternoon for seven high school boys ski teams at Bigrock in Mars Hill on Saturday.

    In the boys’ slalom races in the morning John Bapst came in first with a team score of 30 points. Fort Kent and Presque Isle tied for second with 44 points. Caribou (62) was fourth followed by Central Aroostook (69), Lee Academy (136) and Mattanawcook Academy (145).

    Brandon Ouellette of Fort Kent was the race winner with a combined time of his two runs of 1:41.63.

    Local skiers in the top-15 were: 3, Matt Sullivan, PI, 1:44.08; 5, Spenser Stetson, CAHS, 1:45.11; 6, Cody Clayton, CAHS, 1:45.54; 9, Sean Barbosa, CAR, 1:47.91; 10, Nolan McDuffie, 1:49.86; 12, Jacob Towle, PI, 1:54.02; 14 Gabe Player, PI, 1:57.44; and Chris Carroll, PI, 1:57.54.

    In the afternoon giant slalom event Fort Kent was the winner with 22 points. John Bapst (47) was second followed by Central Aroostook (65), Caribou (70), Presque Isle (73), Mattanawcook Academy (123) and Lee Academy (129).

    Again it was Ouellette of Fort Kent with the win.

    Local skiers in the top-15 were: 2, Stetson, CAHS, 1:41.71; 5, Clayton, CAHS, 1:45.45; 7, McDuffie, 1:46.50; 11, Sullivan, PI, 2:01.02; 13, Dean Walker, CAR, 2:03.71; and 14, Carroll, PI, 2:04.93.

    The girls competed in two slalom races on Saturday and in each race Roxy Pelletier of Fort Kent was the winner. The Fort Kent girls also won team competition in both races. Presque Isle finished second followed by Central Aroostook and Caribou, again in both races.

    Local skiers in the top-15 in slalom one were: 5, Chelsey Carroll, PI, 1:52.97; 6, Emma Bartlett, PI, 1:53.20; 7, Ginger Kieffer, CAR, 1:55.70; 8, Samantha Kearney, CAHS, 10, Whitney Cote, CAHS, 2;01.83; 13, Jolana Gough, PI, 2:04.62; and 15, Marissa Smith, CAHS, 2:07.85.

    Local skiers in the top-15 of slalom two were: 3, Carroll, PI, 1:53.32; 6, Kearney, CAHS, 1:59.82; 7, Gough, PI, 2:01.07; 9, Cote, CAHS, 2:04.49; 12, Bartlett, PI, 2:05.89; 13, Kieffer, CAR, 2:08.14; and 15, Regan Buck, CAR, 2:15.56.
