The eighth annual Andy Santerre Sno-Run fundraiser to support AMHC’s Sexual Assault Services is undergoing a number of changes this year, including a new starting point for the snowmobile ride and a new location for dinner and the auction. Also new this year will be a 3K run / 1.86 mile walk.
“The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, and there are several changes this year with the event that everyone should be aware of. First, we are starting the 100-mile Sno-Run at the Griffeth Ford dealership showroom in Caribou. Andy Santerre will again lead the way on the Sno-Run, through Washburn, to the newly-built Presque Isle Snowmobile Clubhouse, where sledders will enjoy lunch,” said Joe Chamberlain, event organizer.
Chamberlain said Santerre is “bringing the largest group of NASCAR-affiliated friends with him from North Carolina and beyond to date, including drivers, crew chiefs and crew members.”
This year, the evening’s festivities have been moved to a Presque Isle facility.
“The social hour/autograph session will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Crow’s Nest on Maysville Street in Presque Isle, followed by the dinner and auction with auctioneer Steve Richard, who is excited to take part in the event again this year,” said Lorraine Chamberlain, LCSW, director of outpatient operations and emergency services for AMHC, and event organizer.
Auction items include a gift certificate for 100 gallons of fuel oil, an authentic NASCAR hood autographed by Joey Lagono with a certificate of authenticity from Joe Gibbs racing, an ice fishing auger/drive and many more wonderful items, too numerous to list, according to Chamberlain.
“A brand new activity for this year is the addition of a 3K run/walk for ‘Sno-Runners/Walkers’ to join the event. The Sno-Run 3K road run/walk will run simultaneously with the snowmobile ride, starting at Griffeth Ford in Caribou at 9:45 a.m. — 15 minutes prior to the Sno-Run snowmobiles departing,” said Lorraine.
“Andy is very excited about this new event, as it allows so many other people in the community to participate. Run/walk participants who donate the full $30 registration fee will receive a custom, embroidered Sno-Run event hat valued at $30. Those not interested in receiving the one-of-a-kind hat can register with a $15 donation to AMHC’s Sexual Assault Services,” said Joe.
Advanced registration is encouraged by calling 498-6431. All who register in advance for the run/walk will have their names entered into a drawing for two dinner tickets to the Sno-Run dinner and auction that evening at the Crow’s Nest — a $50 value.
“You don’t have to be a snowmobiler to be part of this event. It’s a fun evening to attend, so come enjoy the autograph session, charity supper and live auction,” said Lorraine. Past events have helped AMHC raise over $200,000 to assist victims of sexual assault here in Aroostook County.
This event has been sold out in advance seven years running, with an average of over 300 attending each year.
