American Flag Color    MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ – Helen M. (nee Pryor) Richmond (“Mars”) died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Troy Hills Center, Parsippany, following a long illness. She was 96. Born in Houlton, Maine, she lived in Miami, Florida for 28 years, then Wilmington, NC for 3 years before moving to Morris County 25 years ago.
    Mrs. Richmond was a self-employed private duty nurse in Miami, Florida for 35 years before retiring in 1980. She graduated from the Normal School, Presque Isle, Maine then received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Maine Nursing School in 1945.
    She served as a captain in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps during World War II and Korea.
    Her husband, James, died in 1986. She was also predeceased by her sister, Gladys Pryor, in 1999.
    She is survived by her daughter, Marion J. McWilliams and her husband, Doug, of Mountain Lakes; and a beloved grandson, John R. McWilliams, also of Mountain Lakes.
    Funeral services will be private. Her burial will take place in the spring at Wilmington National Cemetery, Wilmington, NC. Arrangements were by Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. www.mackeyfh.com.
